Range Judging Workshop and Competition 2022
Five Sargent FFA members attended a Range Judging Workshop and Competition on September 21st, 2022. This event was held at Berlinger Farms and was hosted by Sangre FFA. The workshop session helped students to understand the significance and human benefits of well-managed, healthy rangelands in the SLV and allowed students to meet natural resource career professionals. The contest tested students' plan ID skills and ability to determine rangeland condition, site type, forage amount, and animal capacity from landscape observations. At the end of the day Sargent came home with a first place team score and two individuals placing. Freshman student Mitchell Peterson placed silver category and Junior student, Trenton Paskett placed gold category and was the high scoring individual for the competition. We want to thank Mr.Sinclair and Mr. Berlinger for their efforts in putting this competition/workshop together. It was a great learning experience for all!

Sargent FFA Chapter volunteered at the San Luis Valley Potato Festival on September 10th, 2022. The chapter ran a booth allowing kids to decorate potatoes and ask questions about the potato industry. Sargent FFA members were able to interact with the local community and connect with agricultural industry professionals. Members also enjoyed various activities that the Potato Festival provided. Big thanks to the Colorado Potato Administrative Committee and their support to the potato industry and local FFA chapters.

2022 Logger Days
